Welcome to urBOT, a mobile application that provides a unified interface for connecting to and interacting with AI models deployed across multiple cloud platforms including Azure OpenAI Service, AWS Bedrock, AWS SageMaker, Google Cloud Vertex AI, and any OpenAI-compatible API endpoints.

This Privacy Policy explains how urBOT handles your information when you use our application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency about our data practices.

Key Privacy Principle: urBOT is designed with a privacy-first, local-storage architecture. We do not collect, transmit, or store your personal data, API keys, chat messages, or any conversation content on our servers.

urBOT does NOT collect or store on our servers:

  • Your API keys or authentication credentials
  • Your chat messages or conversation content
  • Personal identification information
  • User account data (we don't have user accounts)
  • Location data
  • Contact lists or phone information
  • Payment information (app is free with BYOK model)

3. Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The following information is stored exclusively on your mobile device using Android SharedPreferences or iOS UserDefaults:

3.1 User-Provided Configuration

  • API Keys: Your cloud provider API keys and authentication tokens
  • API Endpoints: URLs for custom or self-hosted AI model endpoints
  • Model IDs: Identifiers for specific AI models you configure
  • Model Nicknames: Custom names you assign to your AI models
  • Provider Settings: Configuration parameters for different AI providers

3.2 Conversation Data

  • Chat History: Complete message history from your conversations with AI models
  • Conversation Metadata: Timestamps, model used, conversation titles
  • User Preferences: App settings, theme preferences, display options

3.3 Automatically Collected Device Information

Stored locally for app functionality only:

  • Device Information: Operating system version, device model (for compatibility)
  • App Usage Data: Feature usage patterns (stored locally for analytics)
  • Error Logs: Crash reports and error messages (not transmitted to us)

4. How Your Data is Transmitted to Third-Party AI Services

When you send a message through urBOT, your conversation content is transmitted directly from your device to the third-party AI service provider you have configured (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, OpenAI).

4.1 Direct Communication

  • urBOT acts as a client interface only
  • Your messages go directly to your chosen AI provider's API
  • We do not intercept, store, or process your messages on our servers
  • Responses from AI models come directly back to your device

4.2 Third-Party AI Provider Data Handling

When you use urBOT to communicate with third-party AI services, those providers will receive and process your data according to their own privacy policies:

5. API Keys and Security

5.1 Local Storage Only

Your API keys and authentication credentials are:

  • Stored exclusively on your device using secure platform storage (Android Keystore/iOS Keychain where supported)
  • Never transmitted to urBOT servers
  • Never shared with anyone except the AI provider you're authenticating with
  • Protected by your device's security features (encryption, biometrics, etc.)

5.2 Your Responsibility

  • You are solely responsible for obtaining and managing your own API keys
  • You are responsible for any charges incurred from your AI provider based on API usage
  • You should keep your API keys confidential and secure
  • You can revoke or rotate API keys at any time through your cloud provider's console

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

6.1 We Do Not Share Your Data

urBOT does not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties because we don't collect it in the first place.

6.2 Third-Party Services We Use

urBOT may use the following third-party services for app functionality:

  • Google Fonts: For typography (loaded from Google CDN)
  • HTTPS/TLS: For secure communication with AI provider APIs

These services do not receive your personal data, API keys, or conversation content.

6.3 Legal Obligations

Because we do not collect or store user data on our servers, we have no user data to share with law enforcement or other authorities. If legally required, we may provide:

  • General app functionality information
  • Technical documentation about data storage (all local)

7. Data Retention and Deletion

7.1 Local Data Control

You have complete control over your data:

  • Delete Conversations: Delete individual chats or entire conversation history within the app
  • Remove API Keys: Delete stored API keys and model configurations at any time
  • Clear All Data: Uninstalling the app or clearing app data removes all locally stored information

7.2 Data Retention by Third Parties

Data retention for messages sent to third-party AI providers is governed by their respective privacy policies. Consult your AI provider's documentation for information about:

  • How long they retain conversation logs
  • Whether they use your data for model training
  • Your rights to request data deletion

8. Children's Privacy

urBOT is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided information to urBOT, please note that:

  • All data is stored locally on the device
  • You can delete all app data by uninstalling the application
  • We recommend supervision of children's use of AI services

Compliance: urBOT complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Our app store listing indicates a minimum age rating of 13+.

9. International Data Transfers

While urBOT itself does not transfer data internationally (all storage is local), when you use third-party AI services through urBOT, your data may be transmitted to and processed in:

  • Data centers operated by your chosen AI provider
  • Countries where those providers have infrastructure

10.2 Device Permissions

urBOT requires the following Android/iOS permissions:

  • Internet Access: Required to communicate with AI provider APIs
  • Storage: To save conversation history locally on your device

You can revoke these permissions through your device settings, though this may limit app functionality.

11. Security Measures

We implement the following security practices:

11.1 Local Data Security

  • Use of platform-secure storage mechanisms (Android Keystore, iOS Keychain where applicable)
  • Encryption of sensitive data at rest on the device
  • No transmission of API keys or credentials to urBOT servers

11.2 Network Security

  • All API communications use HTTPS/TLS encryption
  • Certificate pinning for enhanced security (where applicable)
  • No logging or interception of API requests/responses

11.3 App Security

  • Regular security updates and patches
  • Code obfuscation to prevent reverse engineering

12. Analytics and Tracking

urBOT does NOT use:

  • Google Analytics or similar tracking services
  • Advertisement networks or trackers
  • User behavior analytics platforms
  • Crash reporting services that transmit data to external servers

Any error logs or crash data are stored locally on your device only and are never automatically transmitted to us.

13. Cookies and Similar Technologies

As a native mobile application, urBOT does not use cookies. We use local device storage (SharedPreferences/UserDefaults) exclusively for app functionality as described in Section 3.
